Professor Afshin Gangi MD, PhD

Prof. Gangi began his fellowship in Strasbourg in November 1991 in the department of Neuroradiology and MSK with special interest in percutaneous procedures.  He performed his first vertebroplasty in 1989 during his residency and continued to develop image-guided procedures in interventional oncology, especially under CT-C arm fluoroscopy and MR guidance.  

 

In 1995, Prof. Gangi obtained his Ph.D. in Laser Physics in Strasbourg. During the same year, he was appointed Assistant Professor in the University Hospital of Strasbourg and he became a full Professor of Radiology in 2000.  Since 2014, he is working in King’s college London for research in interventional oncology and HIFU as an invited Professor with Professor Andy Adam.

Prof Gangi holds numerous patents and is an author of more that 300 peer reviewed articles. He has more than 40 book chapters to his credit along with over 500 abstracts at numerous national and international conferences.

 

Currently, Prof. Gangi is the Chairman of Radiology and Nuclear medicine in the University Hospital and work in the department of Interventional Radiology, with a special interest in Interventional Oncology. He is actively involved in different international society and is the past president of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE).

Dr Sanjeeva Kalva, MBBS

Professor Sanjeeva Kalva, MBBS

Sanjeeva Kalva, MD is the Chief of Interventional Radiology in the Department of Radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, USA. 

Prof. Kalva has published multiple research papers and book chapters in the peer-reviewed literature. His research focuses on the effectiveness of minimally invasive procedures to treat liver cancer, venous thromboembolism, portal hypertension, and pulmonary vascular disease including arteriovenous malformations. He received grant funding from NIH and the industry for research related to liver cancer and vascular diseases.

Prof. Kalva has won several awards for his work in interventional radiology from the Radiological society of North America, Society of Interventional Radiology, American Roentgen Ray Society, Society of Body Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging, and the Outstanding Performance Award and the Dr. Athanasoulis Award for Excellence in Teaching, both at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is an active member of a number of professional associations including the Society of Interventional Radiology, Radiological Society of North America and the American College of Radiology and has also been named a fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology, Cardiovascular Interventional Radiology Society of Europe and American College of Radiology.

Prof. Pua Uei is a Senior Consultant in radiology and Head of Interventional Radiology Service in Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore. Prof. Pua’s has two main areas of interest within interventional radiology. In endovascular intervention with special interest in complex revascularization techniques in peripheral vascular disease, dialysis access and advanced aortic endografting. In interventional oncology, in areas of advanced tumor ablation, embolotherapy, pain palliation and spine augmentation.

Creating innovative and clinically applicable ideas in both diagnostic imaging and IR, his publications centred on solutions for no-option clinical scenarios and documentation of novel techniques and technologies. He has authored and co-authored >180 original research articles, reviews and book chapters, spoke at more than 180 events as an invited speaker or a visiting professor, in over 20 countries. He is an active research mentor to more than 50 undergraduate, medical and graduate students as well as peers both at TTSH and other national and international institutions, and is an Associate Professor in NUS.

As an active volunteer and advocate in the field for radiology, he served as the President of the Singapore Radiological Society (2012-2016), founding and Board member of the Society of Interventional Oncology (SIO), International Visiting Professor of the RSNA (2018) and became the inaugural Chair of the Chapter of Interventional Radiology in the Academy of Medicine Singapore (2022). In recognition to his contributions to the field, Prof. Pua was elected as a Fellow in the Society of Interventional Radiology (FSIR), the Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology (FCIRSE) and the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention (FSCAI).
